The Heritage Centre

The Warsash Heritage Centre

The Society has an substantial resource available in the heart of Warsash. The Warsash Heritage Centre is located at 24 Shore Road and is a permanent home for our archive and a research centre for its users.

Since formation the Society has built a comprehensive archive of photographs, maps, documents and artefacts. We hope that people will use this resource to support their research into the history of our village, and into topics of their own personal interest.

We are undertaking a major cataloguing programme, the results of which will be published on the Web site. We are unable to make all of resources available through this web site. However we will post an up-to-date copy of our index of images, documents and other items. This link will take you to information about how to access this information and a pdf showing our index of items.

Many of the photographs in the collection can be reproduced for a small fee. Please contact us for more information.

If you are interested in seeing our collection then please feel free to come in for a chat or just to browse. All of our many photographs are available to view, and copies can be made for a small fee. The Centre also has small items of merchandise and local history booklets to sell.

When the Centre is closed you can take a look at our window display, which changes regularly and is much admired by passers by.

We aim to open Thursday and Friday from 10:30 to 12:30 and 2.00 to 4.00, and Saturday mornings.

The Centre is manned by volunteers so we cannot always guarantee opening times. If you are travelling a long way to visit then please e-mail the Centre Manager beforehand to confirm that the Centre will be open when you arrive. If you would like to visit the Centre outside of our normal opening hours then please e-mail to arrange a mutually convenient time. You can also call the Centre during opening hours on 07719 739727.

We are always looking for volunteers to join the team. If you would like to offer time to help ensure that the Centre is open as frequently as possible then please contact the Centre Manager

  1. If you are researching you family links a useful tool is the Warsash book of Names. It has about 9500 entrees of events and family names that had made their mark in the village. It is updated regularly and a hard copy is produced in time for the Warsash Festival on the WLHS stall. This can be inspected at the Heritage Centre. Worth a look!
